During the second group discussion, we began to further consider specific stories, and Jia Wei (Sena ) suggested that we could create takeout and Qingming Festival as the story’s background. The bottle is a product sold by witches, and this bottle can lead souls to go home. Her thoughts reminded me of a more suitable festival called zhongyuan Festival (Ghost Festival), and Mengchao Huang (Victor) mentioned that he once saw American Horror Story, about a soul unaware of his death. These points allow us to find some directions for the story’s development. So, we develop and write a story outline.
After our first tutorial, we discovered the problem with our story outline, which we ignored to consider the audience. Our story develops smoothly, with less motivation and less conflict. We also missed the character’s personality. The personality of the character’s personality can help us to build a story. So, in our third discussion, we started thinking about the motivations and characters of the characters based on the previous story outline.

After the second tutorial, we were asked about hat design. Because we want to design a character about eastern witch. But we drew a western hat. I thought we could use traditional Chinese hats, for example, bamboo hats named Douli or Chinese hairpins. And I made some sketches to compare which would be more suitable.

I am not good at Interior design. Therefore, recently, I have attempted to use lines and all kinds of colors and shapes to describe indoor space. Because I have recently been learning how to use colorful graphics to draw, I researched some artworks such as Wassily Kandinsky and Sanyu (1895-1966). Personally, Sanyu’s art style will probably be combined with our background design. And another artist, ‘零’ , is good at using color to draw. Recently, I tried to learn the advantages of Sanyu’s work and the advantages of this artist and develop our background. I hope I can find a suitable style for our background. In the final feedback, the appearance of the restaurant is not suitable for our story. So, the next step I need to continue to change it.
